The Role
This 24 month fixed-term Partnership between Cyber-Duck Limited and the University of Hertfordshire is a unique opportunity to enhance and remodel a PHP/MySQL framework that under-pins a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Software-as-a-Product (SaaP) application. The current system has multiple end-user portal websites, administration CRM/CMS systems and a mobile version for the client and its customers. Additional client and customer user experiences are needed to support Blackberry, iPhone, iPad and Android versions. This role provides the opportunity to work with Mongo DB, Node.JS and responsive web design.

Cyber-Duck have developed an industry first research distribution CRM tool which is undergoing a cycle of development.
The University
As a KTP Associate you will be employed by the University of Hertfordshire but will be based at the Cyber-Duck Limited premises in Elstree, Hertfordshire, UK. The University offers a range of benefits including a final salary pension scheme. The reward package includes a personal training and development budget, plus the opportunity to study for a higher degree (fees paid).
Ideal Candidate
The Person
You will hold as a minimum a BSc 2:1 degree in Computer Science or related.
You will be passionate about web development and will most likely have developed projects outside your normal studies. You will have gained working knowledge of building and administering MySQL databases, secure PHP programming and the development and maintenance of web applications. You will be encouraged to undertake further training and expected to increase your expertise in MVC framework within the first 3 months. You should have a working knowledge of supporting technologies e.g. version control and Integrated Development Environments would be beneficial as would some knowledge of e-Commerce re-engineering and maintenance. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively at all levels and be able to write professional technical reports.
The selection process will consist of a PHP test and shortlisted candidates will then be invited to formal interview at the company.
You need to be ready to relocate for 2 years to UK starting from July to October 2012 (depending on your availability).
Technical and soft skills:
Experience using CodeIgniter / Zend / Symfony, Mootools/ jQuery
Superb XHTML development, CSS and JavaScript (AJAX) working knowledge
Ability to work within existing MVC frameworks
Strong communication skills, be able to work to tight deadlines and be a total team player
Security skills to ensure the project is protected
Website speed/caching optimization knoweledge
Excellent team working and communication skills
Fluent spoken and written English
